In October last year, Tom Holland confirmed that a fourth Spider-Man film featuring him was in development. Even before filming began, the studio had initially set a release date for July 17, 2026. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s release has now been postponed. Sony Pictures recently announced that the movie will now arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
About Spider-Man 4
In a report by mid-day, the highly anticipated project will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for helming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While plot details remain under wraps, reports suggest the film will continue Peter Parker’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Hollywood Reporter also states that Holland will balance this project with his rumored cameo in Avengers: Doomsday.
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Holland provided an update on the film’s production timeline, revealing that shooting is set to begin in mid-2025. “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go—we’re nearly there,” he shared. “Super exciting. I can’t wait!”
Holland has already played Peter Parker in three Spider-Man films directed by Jon Watts—Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). The last installment grossed over $1 billion worldwide, cementing its status as one of the highest-grossing films in the MCU. Notably, No Way Home was released shortly after Avengers: Endgame, a strategy that Spider-Man 4 appears to be following with its post-Avengers: Doomsday release.
Cretton, who has been involved in multiple Marvel projects, including co-creating the upcoming Wonder Man miniseries and developing a Shang-Chi sequel, is now prioritizing Spider-Man 4. With Holland’s return and Cretton at the helm, fans can expect another thrilling chapter in the web-slinger’s legacy.
